This year marks our 30th year in business, and we’ve come a long way these past three decades. All of our clients, partners and friends have been instrumental in our growth and success. Take a look at the timeline below, chronicling some company firsts, client wins, acquisitions and more.

1992

  • CK is founded by Tony Cashman and Ed Katz, two WFSB-TV Sales Executives, as a media buying firm. The company works out of Tony’s apartment in Manchester, Connecticut. The agency’s first accounts are Stephen’s Auto Mall and Morse School of Business.

1993

  • CK expands capabilities to include advertising strategy and creative.

  • CK moves out of the apartment and into office space in Cromwell, CT.

1994

  • CK introduces a dedicated public relations department, making the agency a full-service one-stop shop for its clients.

1995

  • CK picks up Blimpie Franchise Group in Connecticut and the creative and production for Town Fair Tire.

1996

  • CK adds a diverse list of new clients to its roster including Lake Compounce, Pfizer and Mohegan Sun Casino.

1997

  • CK moves to its current location in the octagon building in Glastonbury. 

  • CK builds a state-of-the-art Focus Room facility in-house and opens CT InFocus. As CK’s sister company, it offers clients another layer of integration, providing research service and capabilities.

  • CK picks up Moto Photo Franchise Group in Connecticut and CT Lighting Centers.

1998

  • With less than three weeks to go before CT legislators were scheduled to vote, CK is hired by the New England Patriots to mount an aggressive PR campaign aimed at generating legislative support for construction of a new stadium in Hartford. Although the campaign was a success – and legislation was passed – the Patriots opted not to come to the Nutmeg state.

1999

  • CK is hired by the CT Department of Transportation to execute its Click it or Ticket campaign, one that CK still executes every year, making it the longest retained CK client to date.

2000

  • CK picks up Creative, Production and Media for The Hartford Courant and creative direct marketing work for Webster Bank.

2001

  • CK is hired by DMV to handle a crisis with the state’s Emissions Program contractor and later transitions the agency from a centralized to a decentralized program.

2002

  • CK launches a Pro-Union/Prevailing Wage campaign for the CT State Building and Construction Trades Union.

2003

  • CK is hired on as the agency of record to promote the Clean Indoor Air Act which bans smoking statewide in all enclosed workplaces in CT including restaurants and bars.

  • CK picks up the marketing for the Hartford Wolfpack and the Hartford Civic Center.

2004

  • CK is hired by Market New Haven to rebrand and launch an aggressive public educational outreach campaign promoting the cultural, entertainment, and hospitality offerings of the Elm City to CT residents and businesses. Campaign overwhelmingly changed the perceptions and behavior of residents and visitors on the vitality of the city.

  • CK produces various statewide media campaigns for the CT Department of Public Health (Asthma, Arthritis and Diabetes).

2005

  • After 14 years with an incumbent agency, the CT Lottery hires CK as its agency of record, making it the largest account in the Agency’s history, bringing CK’s annual billings to $30+ million.

2006

  • Popular retailer Yankee Candle Company hires CK to rebrand its flagship store, and “Yankee Candle Village: Quite an Unusual Place” is born.

  • CK, which now offers full service capabilities including advertising, creative, media planning and buying, research and public relations, adds a dedicated Public Affairs department that offers clients issue advocacy, crisis communications and legislative marketing support.

2007

  • CK becomes agency of record for the CT Department of Economic and Community Development as well as the marketing agency for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, rebranding them from CCMC to CT Children’s “Giving Children the Care they Deserve.”

2008

  • Tony Cashman buys out his longtime partner, Ed Katz, and becomes the sole owner of Cashman + Katz Integrated Communications.

  • CK picks up the advertising for the Hoffman Auto Group as well as 10 grand openings for PR, culminating with the first launch of the Smart Car, and Smart Car Franchise in Southern New England.

2009

  • CK launches the Pocket Wireless brand in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts, as well as the relaunch of the new Connecticut Bank and Trust.

2010

  • Durham Group, an award-winning advertising agency based in Farmington, folds into CK and brings along with it its top creative talent and clients, bringing CK’s annual billings to more than $46 million.

  • CK is hired by Foxwoods Resort Casino to execute a travel and destination television campaign, “Endless Wonder.”

  • CK picks up Pocket Wireless creative and media for South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley.

  • CK launches CT 1 Media with creative and media buying for The Hartford Courant, Fox 61, WTXX-20, CT Now, and various custom publications.

2011

  • CK adds in-house video production and digital signage with the acquisition of DSign Digital. CK builds a production facility with a green screen studio, audio booth and editing suites.

  • CK takes Manhattan! The agency expands into NYC with additional office space to service clients.

2012

  • CK launches the high profile See Something, Say Something campaign and secures creative, PR and media planning and buying roles solidifying the agency as one of the largest buyers of paid media in Southern New England.
  • CK picks up the Quinnipiac University Athletics as they move into Division 1.
  • CK celebrates its 20th Anniversary.

2013

  • CK lands national Public Relations agency of record status for BIC Consumer Products USA.

  • CK positions Gaylord Specialty Healthcare with its long-standing and beloved tagline, Think Possible.

2014

  • CK is tapped by Foxwoods Resort Casino as its PR agency of record, and Frontier Communications taps CK for B2B marketing and sports sponsorships.

2015

  • CK becomes agency of record for ECHN – a leading health care network in CT.

  • CK establishes Octagon Strategy Group, headquartered in Boston. Octagon combines political strategists with robust integrated communications.

2016

  • A kindhearted Yeti walks into CK looking for a chance to be creative and spread good will. A unique friendship is formed. So is the beloved Don’t Be Abominable campaign.

  • CK has two big client wins with Iron Mountain, the global leader in information management and Trinity Health of New England.

2017

  • CK is selected by Edge Fitness Clubs for creative, media buying and planning as well as digital, social and email marketing for its locations throughout the Northeast.

  • CK celebrates its 25th year with a identity change, dropping the ‘+” and “Integrated Communications” from its name and redesigning its logo.

  • CK announces Eric Cavoli and Amanda Mueller as new agency partners.

2018

  • CK creates a powerful new brand position for the newly formed utility conglomerate, AVANGRID.

  • CK coins Obey The Orange to promote work zone safety and helps MassMutual launch its first online, self-directed investment app, Fortuna.

  • CK expands efforts to combat distracted driving with CT DOT, and picks up media chores for Ion Bank.

2019

  • CK names, brands, and repositions Outworx Group, the nation’s largest independent exterior maintenance service provider, comprised of 10 operating. companies.

  • CK becomes agency of record for Shriners Hospital for Children in Springfield, MA.

2020

  • Mylanta, #1 liquid antacid in the country, taps CK for creative, media buying, website redevelopment and its first foray into social media.

  • CK adds two high tech companies to its client roster. National Grid Partners invests in innovative startups and Q88 is one of maritme’s leading digital transformation companies.

2021

  • CK adds an eclectic group of new clients to its roster including the NHL Players Association, OrbitMI (a maritime tech leader) and Yale School of Public Health.

  • CK adds two new clients, first creating a new identity and position for Orthopedic Associates of Hartford, then naming and positioning Renewa – a pioneer in renewable energy.

  • CK introduces a new campaign for the CT DOT pedestrian safety law in Connecticut, and launches a partnership with AARP that focuses on senior pedestrians.

2022

  • CK rebrands the foster care arm of CT DCF, naming it CT Fosters and creating its first new identity in more than 20 years.

  • As cannabis becomes legal in CT, CK is chosen to create the state’s first Don’t Drive High campaign to combat an expected rise in the dangerous behavior.

  • CK begins working with one of the world’s largest access solutions companies – ASSA ABLOY, developing its sustainability brand.

  • CK picks up Summit Broadband, a broadband leader in Florida.

  • CK celebrates its 30th year in business.

2023

  • CK produces a gripping wrong way driving media campaign for the CT DOT – the first of its kind in the country.

  • CK becomes the media agency for Commuter Services, promoting public transportation throughout the state.
